Shangri-La signs dual-brand for Shanghai

Shanghai Airport Authority and Shangri-La Group have signed a cooperation agreement for the Shanghai Hongqiao Airport Shangri-La hotel project, part of the Hongqiao Business District and Shanghai Hongqiao integrated transportation hub.

Construction on the project, a dual-brand Shangri-La and Traders hotel, is slated to begin next year, and the property is scheduled to open in 2023.

When it opens, the 55,000-square-meter hotel will be in the north wing of the airport’s Terminal 2, with the lobby directly connected to the terminal. The hotel will also be adjacent to the high-speed rail station, connecting Shanghai to other domestic cities, the city metro system and the upcoming maglev train between the Hongqiao and Pudong airports.
Shangri-La Group currently owns and/or manages more than 100 hotels globally in more than 75 destinations under the Shangri-La Hotel and Resorts, Kerry, Jen by Shangri-La and Traders Hotel brands. The group has a pipeline of hotel and mixed-use development projects in Australia, Bahrain, Mainland China, Cambodia, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
