Kempinski new-build opens in Hangzhou, China

Kempinski Hotels has opened a new property in China’s Zhejiang province. The new-build Kempinski Hotel Hangzhou is located at the southern end of the city’s Grand Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
 
“We are pleased to welcome the first Kempinski property in Zhejiang province and the 19th property in China,” said Michael Henssler, COO/Asia, Kempinski Hotels. “Kempinski Hotel Hangzhou marks the brand’s inaugural partnership with Sino-Ocean Group, representing the new generation of Kempinski Hotels.”

The 344-key hotel, designed by ACID Singapore, is located within a large mixed-use complex that includes shopping, residential and office units. It is close to museums as well as the landmark Gongchen Bridge.

Public space includes a health club with a lap pool, a spa (with the city’s only private spa terrace, complete with outdoor massage pavilions, daybeds and group lounges), six restaurants and bars, including a delicatessen inspired by Kempinski’s German heritage.

The hotel has more than 2,000 square meters of meeting and convention space, including the 1,118-square-meter Grand Ballroom, the 239-square-meter Canal Ballroom, four function rooms, a boardroom and three outdoor venues. 

Kempinski currently has a total of 22 hotels open and in the pipeline across China.
