Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has partnered with The Canyon Group to develop the Six Senses Papagayo resort in Costa Rica’s 2,300-acre Papagayo Peninsula. The property is expected to open in mid-2021.
Six Senses Papagayo is owned and under development by Larkspur, Calif.-based The Canyon Group, which has teamed up with Costa Rican development company Garnier Group for the resort. Architect John Heah, who worked on the Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan and Amanera in the Dominican Republic, will design the project.
When completed, Six Senses Papagayo will have 41 pool villas and 31 residences available for sale. The resort will emphasize wellness programming as part of its spa and fitness center. An organic farm on the property will grow fruits, vegetables and herbs for the chef’s menus and signature spa treatments.
“We are very excited about our first project in Central America,” said Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas CEO Neil Jacobs. “Everything starts with the question of preserving the natural and cultural heritage of Costa Rica while enhancing social and economic benefits. If we can’t answer it, we don’t do it.”
Six Senses Papagayo is located 40 minutes from Liberia International Airport, which has daily flights to and from most major metropolitan hubs in the United States, Canada and Latin America.
