Hattingley Valley’s Classic Reserve is standing high on the podium again as the Hampshire based winery collects its consecutive gold at Imbibe’s Sommelier Wine Awards 2019, after winning the same award last year.
The SWA’s are judged solely by the country’s best sommeliers, including Timothy Connor of Heddon Street Kitchen who described the English Sparkling Wine as ‘The perfect way to start a meal’. Matteo Cali of Savoy Grill was quick to praise its ‘pronounced citrus and apple notes on the nose, with acidity well balanced by the creaminess of the mousse’ which Hattingley can tribute its Head Winemaker, the talented, twice-winning Winemaker of the Year Emma Rice. For Sarah Jane Evans MW, the team leader on the judging panel, it was ‘appealing and balanced, with a fresh, herbal and floral nose’.
Gareth Maxwell Commercial Director for Hattingley Valley commented: “We’re delighted that the Classic Reserve has won this award for the second year in a row. The Classic Reserve is testament to the winemaking team who work exceptionally hard to create a well-balanced & expressive wine that shows its English identity with clarity and precision.”
The multi-award winning Classic Reserve also scooped ‘Best NV Classic’ at last year’s WineGB awards and Hattingley has high hopes for 2019’s wine competitions.
