Wyndham Completes Hotel Technology Systems Migration for La Quinta’s 900 Properties

The systems integration team and many others at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts have good reason to celebrate. Following the migration of its legacy technology systems, La Quinta, which has more than 900 properties, with a total of nearly 89,000 rooms, is now operating on the same central reservation, property management, loyalty, digital and call center platforms as Wyndham’s 19 other hotel brands.

This comes less than one year after Wyndham’s May 2018 acquisition of La Quinta at a cost of $1.95 billion.

This migration of La Quinta technology systems had been in the planning and testing phases for months, according to the company. But the actual implementation was completed over a ten-hour period last week by a large cross-functional team from Wyndham and its technology partners.

Given that it involved the simultaneous transition of La Quinta’s reservations software, customer-facing websites and property management system for more than 900 hotels, it seems all but certain that the event ranks as one of the largest same-day systems migrations in the history of the hotel industry.

With Launch of Hotel Brand, Equinox Embraces Technology to Pump Up the Guest Experience

“Where the science of fitness meets the art of travel.”

Such is the tagline for Equinox Hotels, which last week announced the grand opening, in June, of its first hotel property with the launch of its online booking platform for room reservations. More than five years in the making, the five-star luxury hotel will occupy fourteen floors of a magnificent 1,000-foot-tall tower in the new $25 billion Hudson Yards residential, retail, and commercial development in New York City.

The hotel’s 212 guest rooms, which come with soundproofed walls and blackout shades, are designed to meet the highest guest expectations, including undisturbed REM (“a quiet, calming chamber for truly restorative rest,” reads the new website). A good night’s sleep doesn’t come cheap; room rates start at more than $700 per night.

Of course, the five-star hotel also comes with a host of attractions and amenities, not the least of which is the the largest-ever-built 60,000-square foot Equinox Fitness Club and Spa. A Los Angeles location, announced in 2017 and scheduled to open sometime next year, will consist of a 20-story hotel tower with 305 guest rooms.

According Equinox, the guest rooms will also tout “integrated technology for effortless personalization.” This includes an in-room digital guide “supported by yoga accessories and massage essentials.”

Hotel Housekeeping Technology Holds the Key to Guest Satisfaction (and Clean Rooms, Too)

As every hotelier is acutely aware, negative reviews about guest room cleanliness can result in serious reputational — and financial — harm. Cleanliness is the most important of all variables influencing the quality of the guest experience. While such factors as price, location, service and amenities tend to carry a lot weight, cleanliness invariably ranks as the most influential factor of all.

In fact, a recent survey found that as many as 4 out of 5 guest would abandon a hotel booking due to an unclean guest room. Another recent survey found that 80 percent of guests would leave a hotel if their guest room failed to live up to their own cleanliness standards. Poorly cleaned guest rooms lead to passionate outcries of dismay on TripAdvisor, Yelp, Google Reviews and, often, on the hotel’s own website.

“People underestimate the importance of housekeeping,” wrote a respondent in a recent Starfleet Research survey. “The truth is that housekeeping has a huge impact on guest satisfaction. Everyone cares about the physical aspects of the property, including its location. The front desk experience is important. But the next biggest factor almost always has to do with housekeeping. Is the room ready? Is it clean?”

For that reason, a housekeeping management solution deserves a lot of serious attention.
