Benchmark names director of F&B for Kartrite Resort

Benchmark, a global hospitality company, named Joseph Cavet director of food and beverage for The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark. The Benchmark Resorts & Hotels property, located in Monticello, N.Y., will open next month on the site of the Resorts World Catskills entertainment complex.

“I am very happy to welcome Joe to The Kartrite,” David Kohlasch, the resort’s GM, said in a statement. “He comes to us with a distinguished background in food and beverage, and a keen awareness of the travel destination experience, including the culinary aspects, that will serve our resort well. We are glad to have him as an important part of our executive team.”

Cavet brings a record of more than 15 years of leadership experience to his new position with The Kartrite. He most recently was multiunit general manager for OTG Management, where he led multiple food-and-beverage restaurant teams at both Newark Liberty International Airport and LaGuardia Airport. In this role, Cavet was responsible for launching Taste of New York, partnering with New York producers to bring specialty F&B products to airports. Earlier, Cavet held leadership positions with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, with W Hotels in New York and with the Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group.

Cavet attended Saint John’s University and is a graduate of Cornell University’s hotel management program. Cavet resides in the Sullivan County Catskills with his family.
